FuzziBunz Elite: What's the Fuss? (Review & Giveaway)

From the diaper chatter around the web, FuzziBunz cloth diapers are a favorite amongst cloth diaper families.  I've never used one and I wanted to see what all the positive fuss was about it.  So I wrote to the company and asked if they wouldn't mind me reviewing one of their diapers.  Graciously and generously they agreed and sent me the one size Elite diaper in my choice of color.  Since my daughter, Lady Bug, has so much pink I decided I'd go with another great color - Spearmint.

I have to be honest when I first looked at the Elite I was confused.  I had no idea how this diaper could be one size.  Where were the rows of snaps that make a one size diaper one size?  The first time I put it on Lady Bug I didn't size it at all.  I was so excited to see it, touch it and have it prepped that I didn't even look at the instructions.  I frequently do that with most things I'm excited about...just dive right in!  Was it the wisest decision?  No.  Thankfully the diaper didn't leak all over the place b/c the legs had some major gapping going on!

After that first completely awkward fitting I took out the instructions and finally understood what was up with that elastic.  The elastic is what makes the diaper one size!  BRILLIANT!!!  By using the size chart on the packaging you're able to start the process of creating the best fit for your little one.  It's simple and the fit is perfect for Lady Bug.  Here are my pros and cons:

Pros
  • The diaper is so trim that it fits nicely under pants - no need to go up one size so that the fluffy bum fits into pants.
  • Minky insert - When I first saw that the insert was minky, I thought to myself, Well, this is odd; isn't minky just an ornamental fabric?  Oh contraire!  Minky is surprisingly efficient as an insert.  I used one of the inserts in a cover to see how it would hold up with absorbency.  It was surprisingly good!  Plus, minky adds to the trimness characteristic for the diaper which is what I think is probably the best part of the FuzziBunz Elite.
  • Customary fit - Start by using the size chart and then fit the diaper from there.  If you need the legs to be bigger for those cute chubby thighs, move it down one notch for a looser fit.  Waist needs to be smaller for your little one's tiny middle?  Move the elastic up for a tighter fit.  It's similar to the pants with elastic adjustable waists.
Cons
  • Kind of confusing at first - Like I said earlier, the diaper is a little confusing if you've never seen one before and if you're used to typical one size diapers with snaps.  Once you look at the instructions it makes perfect sense and let me tell you it's beautiful!
FuzziBunz is a generous company and they understand the power of word of mouth so...not only did I get to try one out but you do too!  One FTM fan will receive a FuzziBunz Elite Diaper in their choice of color!  Fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter and best of luck!

  22. Mint! And did you size just one side of the elastic or turn it inside out and do both sides? I have one of these but my peanut is still in newborn diapers.

    1. I did both sides and that's what was awesome about it. It really made no sense until I realized the adjustable elastic around the legs.
