Guy Troubles? A Man's Perspective

About a month ago I introduced a few of you to my friend, Brandon, over at Imperfectly Distinguished. He put together a list of gift ideas for that guy in your life. Well, Brandon's a cool dude, a man's man and isn't afraid to get a little vulnerable with his readers about life, love and pretty much everything else. AND he's volunteered to be our guy BFF here at FirstTimeMom!

What does that mean? Well, if you have a question or a predicament that you're finding yourself in write in to me and Brandon will do his best to answer it for you. Why should you ask Brandon your questions? Good question and I'd ask the same if I didn't know him already. I met Brandon through the STEELE Fitness Challenge. He was the trainer for one of my fellow Challengers, Stephanie. Stephanie lost a tremendous amount of weight and Brandon was a big part of that. He was kind and caring towards her and the rest of us. He understood what it was like for all of us to be in the place where we were at because he's been there too. So yeah, he's incredibly fit, looks super tough with all of his muscles and tattoos but he's a writer (like me) which means he's got an artistic side and a soft side.

Brandon with daughter, Jasmine
Brandon is a U.S. Navy sailor, personal trainer, and blogger residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  After 12 years of active duty he returned to his native state to be closer to his two children and finish a degree in exercise science.  His daughter, Jasmine (17) is a beautiful, bright, and creative teen who has a passion for art.  His son, Ashton (13) is a witty, outgoing, trustworthy kid who is a compassionate person even while dominating on the football field.  Brandon can see so much of himself in both of his children and is reminded every time the three of them are together that he made the right choice by leaving the Navy behind to move forward as a father.

Through his travels and experiences Brandon strongly believed that a majority of men were losing touch with their masculinity and the essence of what a “Gentleman” is.  This was the inspiration to create his website Imperfectly Distinguished, were men can embrace their imperfections in their most distinguished way no matter what their size or social stature.  The site is designed as a “how to” for the average man, discussing everything from Style to honing new “Man Skills”.  He is passionate about writing, fitness, photography, music, film, and most of all helping others.  He spends his free time with friends and family and plans to do more traveling after his children graduate.

  2. This is an awesome idea of a blog! I'll be passing it along to my girlfriends so that they can leave the blog's page open on their computer and their boyfriends/husbands can read it! :) I agree a lot of men now have not even a drop of gentleman in them. it's nice to see that there's still some out there! :)
