I’ve had friends order glasses online before. I’ve seen advertisements for online glasses stores. I have never thought to order from an online eye wear store though. I don’t know why I haven’t looked into it. I think the idea of having to enter my prescription in scared me enough to keep me away but as with most things online I’m sure that you can find better deals on the web. When I was contacted by Firmoo to try their store out and order a pair of glasses I thought this might be a good opportunity to give this a shot.
Firmoo is a popular optical store on the Internet. Their prices are very competitive which is why they’re one of the more well known optical stores. What makes their prices so competitive is that they’re an online store with no typical overhead or expenses like most in-house optical stores. They also purchase their frames and lenses directly from the manufacturers in Asia which also cuts down on costs.
For the purpose of this review I was able choose a pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses. I chose this pair of funky glasses. Aren’t they cute? It was really fun looking at the glasses although it was time consuming because I wasn’t able to try them on the way I can at my local optical store. There was this pressure that I felt because I didn’t want to to have mail them back if they didn’t work. (I had a hard enough time mailing out Christmas cards this year let alone having to send back a pair of glasses!)
After I picked out my glasses I had to get my prescription from my optometrist. That was a tad bit challenging because my four year old decided that he desperately needed me as soon as my call was taken and I was off of hold. I entered my prescription but that was not the most challenging part. The challenging part about ordering online was figuring out what my pupillary distance was. Your pupillary distance is the measurement between your pupils and obviously it’s not really something that you can just eyeball. I had my husband do it for me but there are plenty of tutorials out there that will explain how you can get this measurement on your own. Firmoo does have detailed instructions on how to obtain it.
I think the only downfall of Firmoo is the fact that you aren’t able to stand in a store and try the glasses on. If it doesn’t work you do have to make a turn to the post office. At the same time though their prices are really great so for that one convenience I think it’s worth it in the long run. I mean maybe you’ll like them right off the bat or maybe you’ll have to ship them back for a different pair that better fits your face. You are saving money and let’s be honest, we’re all trying to do that.
Firmoo also sends you an eyeglass screwdriver so that you can easily adjust your new glasses. So again the perk of purchasing in a store is that they'll fit your glasses for you. You're saving money with Firmoo so you'll have to fit your own glasses by yourself.

You're the second blogger I've seen rave about Firmoo! I have to check them out. I wear glasses, and my vision definitely changed a little after DD. I had heard to wait until after you were done nursing to get your eyes checked again, but I think by the time we finish nursing, I'll be pregnant again ;) I probably should go get a new prescription now and give this a shot!
